Somaliland’s major festivals primarily revolve around Islamic holidays and national independence days. Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are significant religious celebrations, involving family visits, prayers, new clothes, and giving to the poor. Another important festival is Neeroosh (also known as Dab-shid or the Festival of Fire), which marks the beginning of the solar year and involves bonfires, splashing water, and dancing. Somaliland also celebrates its independence days on May 18th and June 26th.
